The activities developed by the Foundation are focused primarily on the areas of Clinical Documentation, Continuing Education and Research. The Documentation is accomplished in surgical treated fractures (Internal Fixation) and Total Hip Prostheses. From 1972 until 1993 the clinical records were documented manually and slides were made out of the radiographic images of each case, and then recorded in files. From 1993 on, everything is computerized and all images digitized. The Documentation Centres in Bern and Barcelona are nowadays centres of reference for the documentation of fractures surgically treated and classified following the CCF.

In the educational field, the Foundation has got new facilities available equiped with the most advanced audio-visual technology. Postgraduate courses, Master's Degrees and monographic courses are being offered within the framework of agreement with the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and the Universitat de Barcelona. On the other hand, the Foundation carries out clinical research and also promotes, directs and supports Doctoral Thesis, as well as several scientific publications.

In the research field, we are currently developing several computer programs in collaboration with the Escola d'Enginyers de Telecomunicacions La Salle of the Universitat Ramón Llull. Other R+D and research programs are being developed in collaboration with IQL-BIOMET-Merck, particularly the FUM.OR Total Hip Prosthesis.
