Surgical planning consists in first reducing the articular surface with cancellous lag screws followed by internal fixation and compression of the metaphyseal fracture. The epiphyseal lag screws should be preferably placed through a T or an L plate, that facilitates the parallel |
placement of the screws. Because of the small thickness of these plates making them quite elastic, it is advisable to place another small plate contralaterally at the level of the metaphyseal fracture to neutralize the flexion stresses. |
