The sole characteristic shared by all of the fractures lumped together into the A1 group is the location of the fracture. The .1 subgroup is an apophyseal pull-off fracture whose treatment is by tension band internal fixation (Kirschner wires and wire loop). The .2 and .3 subgroups are diaphyseal-metaphyseal fractures, either |
simple or multifragmentary, caused by a direct trauma, that must be treated by internal fixation with a one-third tubular plate following the general principles of internal fixation: reduction, interfragmentary compression and neutralization. |
