The
results are always uncertain because of the difficult simultaneous reduction
and containment of both joints and especially because of the difficulty
to obtain early motion. Heterotopic ossification is an added complication. |
secondary dislocations. The radial head should be reconstructed if at all possible but, if the radius congruence is in doubt and a good stable reduction of the ulna is obtained, the excision is preferable in order to maintain the pronation and supination, an especially important function in an elbow with a limited flexion-extension motion. |
