Types
The diaphyseal fractures
of the long bones are divided into three Types (A,
B and C),
indicative of an increasing severity.

Simple fracture.
A single linear disruption of the diaphyseal circumference that delimits
two fragments. |
Wedge fracture.
There is a wedge shaped fragment. Once the fracture is reduced, there
is contact between the two main fragments. |
Complex fracture.
A fracture with several intermediate fragments. After reduction, there
is no contact between the main fragments. |
The fractures of the
proximal and distal segments are divided into three Types (A,
B and C),
indicative of an increasing severity.
